For J'Tey Franklin, education has never been simply about earning degrees. It has always been about possibility, purpose, and the power to transform lives.
Originally from Los Angeles, California, J'Tey is a third-generation educator, first-generation college graduate, educational leader, and Founder of IgnitED Education Group, LLC. Her journey reflects a deep commitment to breaking generational barriers while creating pathways for others to succeed.
The Moment That Changed Everything
One of the most defining moments of her life came during one of her final conversations with her grandmother, who encouraged her to never quit pursuing her education because education was the one thing no one could ever steal from her.
Those words became a lasting source of inspiration and a guiding principle for her life's work.
Education & Experience
J'Tey holds a Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Business and a Master of Education in Higher Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership. Her professional experience spans college admissions, academic advising, student success, educational leadership, and college and career readiness.
As an Academic Advisor at Kennesaw State University, J'Tey developed PIVOT — an approved student success initiative designed to help students experiencing academic probation strengthen their academic strategies, accountability, and persistence. The inaugural session is scheduled for February 2027. PIVOT is a KSU initiative, developed and led by J'Tey in her capacity as a KSU staff member, and is separate from IgnitED Education Group.
Through her work in higher education, J'Tey has witnessed both the transformative power of educational opportunity and the challenges students encounter when educational systems fail to provide the individualized preparation, guidance, and support they need.
She believes that getting students through the doors of an educational institution is only the beginning. True student success requires intentional preparation, meaningful engagement, institutional accountability, and support that extends from enrollment to graduation and beyond.

Her grandmother's wisdom planted a seed. Her educational journey strengthened its roots. Her professional experiences revealed the need for change.
